The story The Dialmaker
A quiet craft, shaped by life
One of my earliest memories is watching a watchmaker at work. I was three or four, visiting with my parents. The room was calm, quiet, and filled with precision—soft light, small tools, and careful hands. I didn’t know it then, but something about that stayed with me.
Years passed. Life took us to Malta, then Ireland, then back to Malta again. We learned something from every place — the deep greens of Ireland, the warm stone and sunlight of Malta, and now, the joy and warmth of southern Spain. All of it comes with us into the workshop.
I started making dials because I couldn’t find the ones I imagined. So I began learning, one step at a time. My first dial is still with me. It’s simple — not something I’d sell — but it reminds me where I started. And that everything begins somewhere.
Today, I work from our small workshop near Gibraltar, where every dial is made slowly and by hand. Design and laser engraving are part of the job — the rest of the process is where the joy comes in. Elena, who has a background in fine arts, helps with painting and finishing details. We each bring different strengths, but share the same care for the work.
We’re not a factory. And we’re not trying to be. Even when we repeat a design, no two dials are truly the same. Everyone has their own small life. That’s what we offer — something personal, made with care, by two people who enjoy what they do.
If you love watches and value the details that make something yours, you’re in the right place.
