Who we are
Welcome to The Dialmaker. Our website address is: http://thedialmaker-wordpress.root.maeju.com. We’re a small, independent workshop in Andalucía focused on custom watch dials and handcrafted timepieces.
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.
An anonymized string (a hash) from your email may be shared with the Gravatar service to check if you’re using it. You can view Gravatar’s privacy policy here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture may be visible alongside your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the site, please avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can potentially download and extract location information from images.
Contact Forms
If you contact us through a form, we collect the information you enter (such as your name, email, and message content) to reply to your request. We do not use this information for marketing unless you explicitly ask to stay in touch.
Cookies
If you leave a comment, you can choose to save your name, email, and website in cookies — so you don’t have to re-enter them next time. These cookies last for one year.
We also use temporary cookies on the login page to check if your browser accepts cookies. These contain no personal data and are deleted when your browser is closed.
When you log in, we set cookies to remember your login info and screen preferences. Login cookies last for 2 days, screen option cookies last for a year. Selecting “Remember Me” keeps you logged in for 2 weeks. Logging out deletes login cookies.
Editing or publishing a post stores a cookie with the post ID — no personal data — which expires after one day.
Embedded Content from Other Websites
Our articles may include embedded content (e.g. YouTube videos or Instagram posts). Embedded content behaves just like visiting those external sites — they may collect your data, use cookies, and track your interaction if you’re logged in to those platforms.
Analytics
We use basic website analytics to understand how people use our site. This helps us improve the experience for visitors. We do not collect or store personal identifiers unless you explicitly submit them via a form.
Who we share your data with
We do not share your personal data with third parties unless required to do so by law or to provide essential services (like spam protection).
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are stored indefinitely so we can recognize follow-up comments automatically.
If you register an account (if that option is available), your personal information is stored in your user profile. You can view, edit, or delete your data at any time (except your username). Site admins can also view and edit your information.
What rights you have over your data
If you’ve left comments or created an account, you can request an export of your personal data. You can also request that we delete it — except for any data we are required to keep for legal, security, or administrative purposes.
Where we send your data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service (like Akismet or similar).
Your Contact Information
If you have questions about your data or how we use it, feel free to reach out through the contact form on our site.
